When Should You Book Your Wedding Day Hair & Makeup?

The Answer: It’s Never Too Early!

If you have your heart set on a particular hairstylist or makeup artist, it’s never too early to reserve your date! Many artists book out a year in advance. Most wedding websites are advising you to find your artist 3-6 months in advance, with your artist locked in by 3 months out. Personally, I would have your artist secured no later than 6 months from your date, especially if you plan on having a large bridal party. This gives you plenty of time to finalize all your details for the special day that you’ve spent so much time planning for!

Huge waves of couples have booked, adjusted, rescheduled, and postponed their dates to 2022 & 2023 due to the pause and constant rule changing of Covid-19. While we are in the midst of our summer engagement season as well as a wedding boom, there could be limited availability for your date if you wait too long to book!

The BEST time to book your wedding hair and makeup services:

  • When you book your Photographer! It is to your benefit to book both your beauty artist(s) and photographer at the same time to ensure everyone is available for your dates. Pro Tip: Book before your Engagement/Save The Date Photo Session to ensure both your artist and photographer are available for the same date.

  • Before you buy your Dress! One of the benefits of a bridal preview is to try out the look you will want for your day. Having your bridal preview scheduled on the same day of your dress appointment will help give you a glance at your whole Wedding Day look.

Need help finding the right artist? Here’s some tips:

  • Look through all of your potential artist’s content. Their professional portfolio and social media accounts are a great way to learn about your artist’s style. You want to find an artist who displays a similar style to what you want.

  • Schedule a phone consultation. This allows you to get to know the artist and the vibe they will carry into your wedding journey.

  • Check their reviews and see what other brides are saying about them!

  • Did any of your best gal pals get married recently? Did they love their wedding hair and makeup? Reach out!

  • Look for artists local to your area, or the area you will be getting married to save on travel fees.

  • If you’re not finding what you want in your area, it’s ok to look outside your area! A travel fee is a small thing when you feel incredible on your most special day!

And as always, I’m happy to offer the opportunity to book my wedding hairstyling and makeup services for your special day!
