Summer Beach Essentials

As a professional hairstylist and makeup artist, I know firsthand how important it is to protect your skin and hair from the harsh effects of the sun and salty beach water. With the La Izquierda Surf & Music Festival kicking off tonight, it's the perfect time to discuss some summer beach essentials that you need to have on hand to keep you looking and feeling your best while soaking up the sun on Galveston Island.

First things first, protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays is crucial. One of my go-to sunscreens is Supergoop! Glow Sunscreen. Not only does it provide broad-spectrum protection, but it also leaves your skin with a beautiful, dewy glow. For those who want a little more coverage, I recommend Chanel CC Cream or EltaMD Tinted Sunscreen SPF-40, both of which provide a more natural look while still protecting your skin.

When it comes to lip care, Nars afterglow lip balm in Orgasm is a must-have. Not only does it keep your lips hydrated, but it also gives you a beautiful pop of color. And for those who want a little extra sparkle, the Tom Ford Sheer Cheek Duo Eclat Nu is perfect for adding a subtle glow to your cheeks.

In terms of makeup, I love the Alleyoop stack the odds multi-use face stacker in sassy pants. It's an all-in-one product that can be used as a blush, eyeshadow, and lip color, making it the perfect addition to your beach bag. And for mascara, I always recommend the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara-Waterproof or Tarte Surfer Curl Mascara, both of which are waterproof and will withstand the heat and humidity.

Now, let's talk hair. To keep your locks looking their best, I recommend using DryBar Detox Dry Shampoo to keep your hair looking fresh and clean, even on the hottest of days. And for those who want to add some beachy waves, Sun Bum Hair Lightener is a great option. And to finish off your hairstyle, I love using Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisble Oil Soft Texture Finishing Spray to add a little bit of texture and hold.

But don't forget about your skin! Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is a must-have for keeping your skin hydrated and smooth. And for those who want to maintain their tan, Sun Bum Premium Sunscreen Tanning Oil 15 is a great option.

Last but not least, the Supergoop! (re)setting spray is perfect for refreshing your skin throughout the day while also helping to set your makeup in place. And for a quick pick-me-up, Mario Badesco Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & rosewater is a great option to keep your skin feeling hydrated and refreshed.

With these summer beach essentials, you'll be ready to take on the La Izquierda Surf & Music Festival while keeping your skin and hair looking and feeling their best. Don't forget to protect yourself from the sun, and have fun in the sun while taking care of yourself!

Be sure to check out Moana Tropics’ pop-up at the festival this weekend to shop for your summer beach accessories! They’ll be on site with beach towels, summer hats to protect your face from the sun, and all the fun jewelry you can imagine!

Stay hydrated and wear your sunscreen!
